Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Female Cancer awareness month or Pink Ribbon MONTH. We are running a charity event in our shopping center Jackson Court. Breast cancer is the most common female cancer which affects nearly 14,000 Australian women a year. This accounts for almost one third of all female cancer diagnosis. The age most at risk is those over 50 which accounts for  75% of all cancer diagnosis. If you have had a history of breast cancer in the family, this increases the chances of developing the disease. 

Here are some important facts:

Everyday, more than 40 Australian women are told they have breast or a gynecological cancer.

1 in 9 females One in every nine Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85.
  symbol-male-and-female-hi In 2015, 15,740  are projected to be  diagnosed with breast cancer on a daily basis. Men, of course are not immune.
Arrow In 2020, this number is projected to increase to 17,210 with breast cancer in Australia.
 Cancer Survivors  People diagnosed with breast cancer have an 89% chance of survival after 5 years of diagnosis.
 93 percent  When detected early, Australian women diagnosed with ovarian cancer have a 93% chance of surviving.
